The Simpsons began as a series of shorts in 1987 on the Tracy Ullman Show. Then in December of 1989, it helped launch the new channel FOX. As one of the most famous television families in the world it has become a part of our culture all the way to having the word "D'oh" in the dictionary.
The Simpsons is the longest running American sitcom, the longest running animated series and the longest running American prime time entertainment show in history. Whether you like the Simpsons or not, there is no arguement that they have influenced and become a part of modern day culture
